Debrecen, Hungary est. 1990

Debrecen, Hungary - Debrecen, a city with a population of over 200,000 is located in the Great Plains area of Eastern Hungary. It is considered the educational, cultural, economic and commercial center of East Hungary. With New Brunswick having such a strong Hungarian background, it made for an easy Sister City relationship. Sister Cities programs have included business and trade development; art; music and dance; looking at health issues and its relationship to becoming a healthy adult - a joint program with Tsuruoka; teacher and student exchanges. The official Sister Cities agreement was signed May 18, 1990.
